The Packoorang Story

Working in sales, Natasha was a daily witness of the constant trash problems happening right outside her corporate office window. The sight is a familiar one, not only in Oslo but anywhere in the world: Trash cans and containers outside retailers and postal offices are over flowing with packaging materials. It is the perfect representation of what’s gone wrong in our increasingly wasteful global society.

Natasha decided it was time for action, and saw little reason why she – a talented sales person – couldn’t be the one to start it all. There were only two issues: She had no experience with manufacturing, and beyond a home-sewn prototype for a reusable mailer bag, she didn’t know how to take the next step. Secondly, there was the ‘small’ issue of coming up with a viable return system for the bags, so they could be returned after each use. The latter is no easy task, and it’s a problem which several companies and startups have attempted to crack for years.

Natasha found Alvin through his consulting firm New England, specializing in sustainable production. Owned by Pinecone Ventures, Dammann Leer’s private impact venture firm, New England was tasked with prototyping and scaling the reusable mailer bag for mass production in a sustainable way. The result was a 100% recycled polyester packaging, durable enough to last 50-100 reuses. The Abbas-Leer collaboration went so smoothly, it was mutually decided they should work on this concept together. Alvin soon joined as co-founder and CEO, with Pinecone Ventures 49% stakeholder.

For the following months, hard work and an incredible pace of growth awaited. Multiple partnerships with billion dollar companies have been established, pilot customers onboarded, and an innovative return system based on innovative technology has been developed through a few too many 14-hour workdays – and some invaluable help from government grants and a membership in the renown incubator Kjeller Innovation. The rest is history, in the making. In 2021, Packoorang will roll out its first pilot in Oslo, Norway with several European cities due to roll out next.

From our own experience, we know how difficult it is to behave consistently sustainably. Especially when everyday stress and lately Corona thwart the food plans and you order food for delivery or take food to the office or home, a big mountain of rubbish always remains in the end. In our view, it is a huge waste of resources to produce and transport packaging in an elaborate manner, just so that it ends up in the garbage and is incinerated after less than 30 minutes. With VYTAL, we want to establish a digital reusable system that finally offers every hungry person, restaurateur, supermarket and delivery service a low-cost and sustainable alternative to disposable and plastic waste.

Our mission is to reduce food waste and alleviate food insecurity in communities everywhere. Replate manages the food donations of caterers, offices with meal services, brands with product overrun, farmers markets, restaurants and other surplus food generators. Every food donation is taken to a nearby nonprofit that works with people experiencing food insecurity, or directly to someone’s home.

OUR MISSION - Together we all need to make a change to help our planet get back to being healthy and sustainable to all species.  There are so many aspects of our everyday life that need to change and Fair-Well has chosen to focus on food waste, household waste and the community.  To do this we need to make plastic free options accessible and convenient. We believe if we live healthy & sustainably, the world will be healthy.

OUR VALUES - It's sometimes hard to find products that reflect more than one good business practice in one product. We believe in so many things but the products out there only provide us with one or the other, organic but not environmentally friendly, environmentally friendly but not Fair-trade, great product but part of a multinational company, Organic and Fair Trade but in single-use plastic packaging. So we thought, how amazing would it be if we could provide customers with products that had all these great business practices with all their products and have them plastic free?!  Our main objective is to reduce plastic usage in our everyday essential products while giving back to the community.  We home deliver organic and natural products to our customers to make buying plastic free more convenient.

We hope to start a movement where all households do their best to reduce their plastic use!

The mission of the Institute for Food and Development Policy, better known as Food First, is to end the injustices that cause hunger.
Food First envisions a world in which all people have access to healthy, ecologically produced, and culturally appropriate food. After 40 years of analysis of the global food system, we know that making this vision a reality involves more than technical solutions—it requires political transformation. That’s why Food First supports activists, social movements, alliances, and coalitions working for systemic change. Our work—including action-oriented research, publications, and projects—gives you the tools to understand the global food system, build your local food movement, and engage with the global movement for food sovereignty.

As a “people’s think tank”, we are dedicated to ending the injustices that cause hunger and helping communities to take back control of their food systems. We advance our mission through three interrelated work areas: research, education and action. These work areas are designed to promote informed citizen engagement with the institutions and policies that control our food and to integrate local, national and global efforts. Informed by a vast network of activist-researchers, Food First’s analysis and educational resources support communities and social movements at the forefront of change in the food system.  Our work both informs and amplifies the voices, strategies, and solutions of social movements fighting for food justice and food sovereignty.

BARBI Bristol - British Association of Restaurants, Bars & Independents was set up in 2016 and has been helping Bristol's Hospitality Industry since its conception. Over 400 venues are signed up to the association with 10,000 employees within the group. We have hosted many networking events & parties for the hospitality industry and helped support them in anyway we can.

Our new app has been built by Bristol, for Bristol to save Bristol's Independent Hospitality Industry. We built this app as the high commissions charged by the leading delivery companies to the venues just isn't sustainable for many and is strangling their businesses. By charging a fair % on the commissions we are keeping these venues open, keeping people in jobs & keeping Bristol's Independent food & drink scene alive.

Our story as Carryway began in 2002, when as the West Yorkshire based machinery hire and sales company MTS Group, we took our first steps into the electric vehicle market, becoming dealers for Club Car golf and utility vehicles.

Over 19 years a lot has changed and we now have our own identity “Carryway” your smarter service vehicle partners, but still remain part of the same MTS Group.

We have grown over time and now supply over 170 UK golf clubs and resorts along with various facilities, contractors and locations from a range of industry sectors. Our hire fleet of over 1000 vehicles has been used at various events, projects and venues with our vehicles having been driven by everyone from World Leaders to Global Sports Stars.

At Carryway we believe our service is our USP, and the key to our success. We have always and continue to invest in staff training, new technology and our products to ensure we are offering the best possible service and support with the aim of exceeding not just meeting our clients expectations.

Our story began in London in 2015: Steven, our founder, wanted to solve a simple problem: to provide anyone with fresh, plant-based, reasonably-priced food available any time.

He first tested the idea in his own house, converting it into a pop-up restaurant for his friends for one night only. With an astonishing 97% thumbs up, Farmstand launched the next year, setting up its first central kitchen in Deptford and a physical showroom restaurant in Covent Garden.

From that moment on, we have sold nearly 1m meals by partnering with offices, canteens, and local food markets. We've even appeared in the New York Times!

We're making our part to reverse climate change and drawdown greenhouse gas from the air we breathe, by eliminating physical stores and by delivering your food in bulk with a recurring subscription.

And the single biggest thing you can do? Eat more plants.

So, our mission? Help feed the world more healthy and planet-conscious food.

RYTLE combines state-of-the-art technology and environmental protection for maximum flexibility in city logistics. With RYTLE you find a whole concept infusive digital transformation for the last few miles – and in an intelligent way, near emission-free and cost-efficient.

We want to support cities and conurbations – no matter which size – with sustainability, ecology and efficiency.

To transform the logistics of the last mile into the digital age, a revolutionary telematics infrastructure was created, which can be used easily with a smartphone app. The MovR, the BOX and the City HUB as well as all players are equipped with sensors and telematics. On request and as an option, the entire transport process is digitally transparent. The focus is on interactive communication and continuous process optimization between customers and logistics companies. For example, data for delivery is displayed online in real time on the smartphone. The interaction of all information is highly encrypted in the RYTLE cloud. By using a smartphone based technology, Crowdworking is fully integrated into the concept. This allows a single courier without special equipment to connect to the courier network using the MovR. This results in completely new flexible options in the area of product-traffic.

The innovative concept is the result of an intensive analysis of the requirements of today’s city center logistics. Especially in view of the increasing environmental impact and the congestion of inner cities, the RYTLE concept offers innovative solutions for the advanced ecological logistics of tomorrow.

Since launching online in 2017 we have been delivering freshly-made, totally tasty, nourishing food to the offices of Leeds city centre.

Whether you want lunch for one, are eating with colleagues or organising food for a team meeting, talk to us. We even deliver nutrition workshops to clients which are full of practical advice and no boring bits

Our aim is to deliver wellbeing for people and the planet, so as well as the best, most nutritious and delicious food, we deliver by cargo cycle, use 100% recyclable and compostable packaging and keep food waste to almost zero with our advance ordering system.

Lean Lunch meals aren’t about restricting yourself. They’re about cramming as much good stuff and flavour into one meal as humanly possible.

You’ll always get at least 3 of your 5 a day, and we’re all for healthy fats too. They help keep you feeling full and your blood sugar levels balanced, and they’re great brain food. So by 3pm you’re much more likely to be powered up to finish the day on a high, rather than reaching for the digestives. Just take a look at our menu.

Zedify are a network of city logistics operators on a mission to make our cities nicer places to be. And we've got some big ambitions.

Our system has been designed to make urban deliveries better. This starts with offering our customers some great services; consolidated deliveries at great prices, narrow time slots guaranteed and active, living wage employed riders for a great doorstep experience.

But we're also better for the city. We re-mode deliveries typically made by diesel van or truck and we consolidate making the whole process far more efficient. The result? Cleaner, quieter, less congested streets. Better deliveries for better cities.

Founded in 2001, TerraCycle (www.terracycle.com) is the world’s leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable post-consumer waste. TerraCycle works with over one hundred major brands in twenty-one countries across the globe to collect used packaging and products that would otherwise be destined for landfills. It repurposes that waste into new eco-friendly materials and products that are available online and through major retailers. The waste is collected through TerraCycle’s National recycling programmes, which are free fundraisers that pay schools, charities and non-profits for every piece of waste they collect and return.

TerraCycle launched in the UK (www.terracycle.co.uk) in September 2009 (its first market in Europe) and today operates in 12 European markets (UK, ROI, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Denmark). In the UK TerraCycle currently runs collection programmes for over 30 types of waste which can’t be accepted by local council run recycling systems.  For example, yoghurt pouches, L.O.L. Surprise! packaging and products, cracker and biscuit wrappers, crisp packets, nuts, popcorn and pretzel packets, confectionery wrappers, contact lenses, baby food pouches, Pringles cans, bread packaging, writing instruments, disposable gloves, pet food packaging, air, home and laundry care waste, hand soap pumps and refill pouches, plastic ring carriers (hi-cones), toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes, Aqua Optima water filters, personal care and beauty products / packaging, Tassimo & L’OR coffee pod / TDISC waste and Lavazza Eco Caps.  Currently more than 5,318,616 individuals and organisations across the UK have signed up to collect, which to date has diverted over 129 million items of packaging waste from landfill while earning over £1,343,522 for schools, charities and non-profit organisations.
